August Forum: The Community-Driven Sustainable EconomyIn Conversation with Hunter LovinsLMHQ, 150 Broadway, 20th Floor, NYC 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm EDT/GMT-4 <<<<< TICKETS HERE >>>>> How can an individual drive sustainable economic development in a city of 10 MILLION? On August 23rd, join Hunter Lovins, global sustainability pioneer and Founder of Natural Capital Solutions, to explore the power and potential of local action on sustainable business growth and community development. In our busy 21st century, technology-bound lives, the idea of community is in some ways diminishing. Why do there seem to be modern dimensions of life that actually reduce the importance of local communities? Are we distorting the very meaning of life when local communities are set up to feed larger societal systems? As part of this forum, Hunter will introduce us to LASER - Local Action for Sustainable Economic Renewal. The LASER platform’s purpose is to create wealth that provides people with long term economic security and the ability of future generations to live healthy and fulfilled lives. Real wealth is inextricably linked to the satisfaction of our human needs and overall well-being. The LASER approach provides a structure for how individuals and organizations can impact economic advancement within their communities and sustainably improve the lives of others. It may be easy to get lost in the speed and vastness of New York City, but there are powerful tools and techniques for individuals to discover what community really means and first-handedly drive economic and social impact in this concrete jungle. We look forward to seeing you at the August forum with Hunter! We are excited to be partnering with GreenHomeNYC for this event! Light refreshments provided. Limited seating.<<<<< TICKETS HERE >>>>> |

The Impact Report: Using Art to Promote Sustainable Behaviors and LifestylesAnne De Carbuccia, Artist+Creator, One Planet One Future // Founder, Time Shrine FoundationPodcast 8:00 am – 9:00 am EST/GMT-5 Anne de Carbuccia is a French-American environmental artist. She has traveled the globe for several years documenting the evolution of the planet and the impact of mankind on the environment. Born in New York and growing up in Paris, Anne spent most summers on the island of Corsica and developed a keen interest for nature. Her father was the publisher and friend of many explorers of the time, such as Jacques Cousteau and Alain Bombard, and Anne spent many holidays listening to their stories of adventures often infused with scientific and cultural references. She attended Columbia University in New York City, majoring in Art History and Anthropology. In her studies, she developed an interest on the era of human beings as a geological force, the Anthropocene, and on its dangers for the planet. On a filming expedition to Antarctica, she conceived the Time Shrines, temporary installations created in symbolic environments that Anne photographs to create a permanent record. In the Time Shrines, she combines 16th and 17th century still life symbology with her fascination for shrines as one of the first spiritual and arti stic human expressions. After Antarctica, she made many expeditions, producing more than one hundred images in the last four years for her artistic project One Planet One Future. With the One Planet One Future photographs, Anne continues to draw attention to the current environmental crisis and to inspire people to change behaviors and habits contributing to it. In 2016, Anne established the Time Shrine Foundation, a nonprofit established to raise awareness and protect vulnerable species, environments and cultures. The Foundation is funded by donations from individuals and corporations, and by the sale of artwork and sustainable merchandise. Anne recently opened a permanent New York exhibition, ONE Art Space, in the historic Westbeth Arts Center. The space serves as a center for education, collaboration, and community.
