Audition Information 面试要求

  • Prescreening Video Requirements For All Instruments and Voice
    Three Solo or Concerto Pieces:
    • One live performance or new recording of a Chinese piece*, in either contemporary or traditional style, of approximately 10 minutes in length.
    • Two recordings (can be of previous performances) in differing styles
      • These may be Chinese or Western compositions
    *If you are unsure if your piece suits the Chinese repertoire requirement, please contact the Conservatory admissions office:
     here. 
  • Prescreening for Non-Performance Concentrations
    Composition Applicants
    Please submit two pieces, both recordings and scores, of one large ensemble composition and one chamber music composition, preferably including Chinese instruments or with Chinese style.

    Musicology/Ethnomusicology
    Please submit one previously written article, paper, or research project, preferably on a topic related to Chinese music. If the topic of your previously written article, paper, or research project is not related to Chinese music, it may be related to general musicology or ethnomusicology. 
  • Final Live Interview
    All final interviews are by invitation only and will take place after the application process has been completed and reviewed. 

    In-person interviews at Bard are strongly encouraged, and some live interviews in China may be scheduled. However, Zoom interviews will be arranged if needed.

    Each interview will be at least 30 minutes in duration and will focus on the applicant's academic and music background. If desired, additional supplemental materials may be submitted at this time.

Although our system does support media files as large as 2 GB, please be advised that larger files will take longer to upload from your Internet connection and may stall if you are on a wireless connection or one that cannot sustain a connection for the necessary period of time. Uploaded documents may contain no more than 75 pages.
