Estefania Puerta is an artist that works with organic and inorganic materials that act like poetics of transformation and translation. She is interested in what is gained and lost in the process of making and the new worlds that can emerge from re-contextualizing objects. This kind of investigation is rooted in shape shifting, border crossing, mis-recognition, and language failure. The tension between what is identifiable and what evades language is a focal point in her work that aims to question what (or who) is considered natural or alien; comforting or threatening.
