Essays collected in The Night Sky: Writings on the Poetics of Experience (2005). Visiting core critic (sculpture), Yale Graduate School of the Arts. Recipient, MacArthur Fellowship (1993); Guggenheim Fellowship (1986). David and Ruth Schwab Professor of Languages and Literature at Bard since 1997.
