Alexandra Knoll

oboe

Alexandra was born in Zimbabwe and emigrated to South Africa at age ten. After graduating from high school, she worked professionally for two years in the Natal Philharmonic Orchestra before moving to the States. She is an alumna of the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School. Alex enjoys a multifaceted freelance career. She is a member of the American Symphony Orchestra and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic and plays frequently with the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet, New Jersey Symphony and Orpheus. She is the oboist for the Broadway show Mary Poppins and has been featured on recordings by Rufus Wainwright, Lenny Kravitz and Antony and the Johnsons. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband Maxim and daughter Vera.
