Ages 3 - 6 years old: Early Childhood Program
Monday, July 8 to Friday, July 12, 2013 "MUSIC & MOVEMENT"
- Ages 3 to 4: 9:00AM “Music & Movement” Five 45-minute classes.
- Ages 5 to 6: 10:00AM “Music & Movement” Five 60-minute classes.
Music and Movement classes are based on the pedagogical theories of Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcroze. Students explore musical elements through movement, folk songs, games, and other hands-on activities.
Some of the skills emphasized in Music and Movement include:
• Matching pitch with the voice
• Keeping a steady beat
• Reading and understanding rhythmic notation
• Sight-singing from the staff
• Improvising
• Composing
Monday, July 8 to Saturday, July 13, 2013 "CHORUS"
(Chorus Performance only on Saturday, July 13, 2013)
- Ages 3 to 4: 10:00AM “Children’s Chorus” Five 45-minute classes plus performance
- Ages 5 to 6: 9:00AM “Chorus” Five 45-minute classes plus performance
Chorus is for all children to sing and make music together! No singing experience is necessary and students will not be required to sing solo. Students explore the fundamentals of singing including proper posture, breathing techniques, intonation, and phrasing. Repertoire will include simple choral pieces in unison and with harmony. The week will culminate in a performance at the student recital on Saturday, July 13, 2013.
Tuition and Fees
- Ages 3 to 4: “Children’s Chorus” $100
- Ages 3 to 4: “Music & Movement” $100
- Ages 5 to 6: “Chorus” $100
- Ages 5 to 6: “Music & Movement” $125
- Registration fee*: $15 per family (waived if registered by May 11, 2013)
*The registration fee is waived for current Bard College Conservatory of Music Preparatory students or siblings of current students
- Deadline: Saturday, June 22, 2013 (must be received in Blum office by 5:00PM)
- Late registration fee (after June 22, 2013): $15

Half day program is ONLY open for 5-6 year olds
Ages 5-9: Full day 9:00AM to 3:00PM
- Open to Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Guitar, Flute, Clarinet, Voice, and Composition
- Musical activities include private lessons and additional group lessons, chamber music, chorus, performance class, musicianship class, master class, and monitored practicing
- Each day also includes recreational activities, arts and crafts, and more
- Student and Faculty Recitals
- All students will work closely with dedicated and experienced teachers, including members of the Bard College Conservatory of Music Preparatory Division faculty
Tuition and Fees
- Ages 5-6: Half day $290
- Ages 5-9: Full day $550
- Additional Instruments: $175
- Registration fee*: $25 per family (waived if registered by May 11, 2013)
*The registration fee is waived for current Bard College Conservatory of Music Preparatory students or siblings of current students
- Deadline: Saturday, June 8, 2013 (must be received in Blum office by 5:00PM)
- Late registration fee (after June 8, 2013): $25

- Arts & Crafts: Five 45-minute classes for $100 (July 8 to July 12)
- Chamber Music: Five classes plus performance for $250 (July 8 to July 13)
- Chorus: Five 45-minute classes plus performance for $100 (July 8 to July 13)
- Musicianship: Five classes for $125 (July 8 to July 12)
- Music & Movement for Ages 5-6: Five 60-minute classes for $125 (July 8 to July 12)
