Families interested in enrolling in the Preparatory Division should first contact the program directors for information regarding openings, scheduling, and class placement.

Although no audition is required for admission, attendance and commitment level are important factors to consider in serious music study. Therefore, the first step in the registration process is an informal discussion to answer any questions about the program or student expectations. Please contact the Prep program director at [email protected] to begin the registration process.

Once the determination has been made to proceed with registration, simply fill out the appropriate online registration form below and we will contact you to finalize scheduling and payment details. Families enrolling in Early Childhood Music Classes should proceed directly to online registration. After the registration form is submitted, applicants will receive an invoice and instructions on submitting payment. Payment is accepted via our Online Payment Portal.

Private Lessons
Bard Preparatory Division faculty members are not required to make up lessons missed due to an absence by the student. Teachers may choose to make up 1 missed lesson per semester if they have time in their schedule to do so. The makeup lesson may occur remotely, if the teacher is not available for in-person make up lesson. Please limit requests to one per semester, for illness only.

If a Preparatory Division teacher is absent from a lesson, that lesson will be covered or made up. Whenever possible a substitute teacher will be provided to fill in at the regular lesson time. If a substitute teacher cannot be provided for the date of the absence, the lesson will be made up by either the regular teacher or a substitute teacher at a later date, mutually agreed upon by the student and the teacher. Substitute teachers are professionals with qualifications comparable to Bard Preparatory Division Faculty members.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy
Students may withdraw from the Preparatory Program or individual classes at any time. Tuition refunds will be given at the following rates:
• Before the 1st Day of Classes: 100% Tuition Refund (minus the application fee and tuition deposit)
• After the first Day of Classes: 90%
• After the second Day of Classes: 75%
• After the third Day of Classes: No Refund Given

Withdrawal from individual classes and/or secondary lessons will also be refunded at the percentage rates listed above. Please Note: Registration Fee and Tuition Deposit are not refundable at any time of withdrawal.

The Deposit is built into the tuition. The Deposit is typically $100 per instrument/class/ensemble for Full Program Students. For non-Full Program students, registration for class/ensemble is $100.

If you wish to withdraw, you must notify the Bard Preparatory Division directors by email at [email protected]. The effective date of withdrawal is the date that the written notice is received, not the last day of class or private lesson. Students receiving financial aid forfeit their aid upon withdrawal.
