Admission Overview

The Conservatory admits exceptionally talented musicians who have already achieved a superior degree of instrumental proficiency, or have substantial accomplishment as composers. To be admitted, applicants must perform a successful audition and must also be admitted by Bard College. The chances of being admitted to the College will be substantially enhanced by outstanding achievement in music.

Regular Admission
January 1: Application deadline 
End of January: Prescreening results sent.

Live Auditions at Bard Conservatory (by invitation only) will be in February and early March.
  • February 21: double bass
  • February 28: violin, viola, cello, flute, piano, clarinet
  • February 29: percussion
  • March 3: composition
  • March 4: composition, viola 
  • March 6: horn, trumpet, bassoon, tuba, violin, oboe
For those applicants who cannot attend one of our regular audition dates please contact the Conservatory admissions office at conservatoryadmission@bard.edu to make other arrangements.
