Admission Overview

The Conservatory five-year, double-degree program admits exceptionally talented musicians who have already achieved a superior degree of instrumental proficiency, or have substantial accomplishment as composers. To be admitted, applicants must perform a successful audition and must also be admitted by Bard College. The chances of being admitted to the College will be substantially enhanced by outstanding achievement in music.

Regular Admission

Application Deadline: January 1

Financial Aid Application Deadline:​ February 15
International Financial Aid Deadline: Janurary 1

Live Auditions Dates (by invitation only): 
Below is the list of live audition dates and the instruments that will be heard on each date.

Sunday, February 19: piano, viola, bassoon, trumpet, tuba

Friday, February 24: trombone (in New York City)

Sunday, February 26: violin, viola, flute, bassoon

Sunday, March 5: piano, violin, cello, double bass, horn, oboe

Monday, March 6: percussion, composition 

Applicants who are unable to attend the live auditions are welcome to submit a video recording. Video recordings are due February 1. Applicants submitting a video recording will receive an email with further instructions on how to submit their recordings. Composition applicants who are unable to travel to Bard will have their interviews conducted via Skype.
 

Transfer Student Admission
