Biography:
Professor Blaber, a scholar of the philosophy of religions, comes to Bard from Grinnell College, where she had a one-year appointment as assistant professor in religious studies. Her work focuses on continental philosophy, ethics, and modern Jewish thought and literature. Publications include the forthcoming “Les Lectures de L’Insurgé” in Hannes Opelz & Michael Holland, Dictionnaire Maurice Blanchot; a review, in progress, “Barbara Krawcowicz’s History Metahistory, and Evil: Jewish Theological Responses to the Holocaust,” in the Journal of Religion; and a 2016 review, also in the Journal of Religion, “Lieven Boeve’s Lyotard and Theology. She is the recipient of various awards and fellowships, including Emerging Scholars in Political Theology, Villanova Center for Political Theology and the Political Theology Network; Fellow, Holocaust Educational Foundation of the Northwestern University Summer Institute on the Holocaust and Jewish Civilization; and several research and travel grants from the University of Chicago. Courses taught at Grinnell and the University of Chicago address subjects such as Pilgrimage, Voyage, Journey and Guilt; Atonement, and Forgiveness after Atrocity; Studying Religion; Jewish Civilization; and Power, Identity, and Resistance.BA, Williams College; AM, PhD, University of Chicago Divinity School.
