The offices of Communications, Publications, and Web Services work together to tell Bard’s story. Through well crafted print publications, media outreach, digital communications, social media, video, and websites, we help bring the College’s mission to the world.

Our students, staff, and faculty are part of that mission, acting as ambassadors for Bard in their work. This website provides best practices to the Bard College community for use of Bard websites, calendars, social media, and publications. It includes guidelines for producing written and visual content consistent with Bard’s standards. It is a resource for staff, faculty, and students who represent Bard College and its programs—in Annandale and beyond—to the public.

The Office of Communications at Bard College is responsible for creating and maintaining all content on Bard websites and ensuring consistent messaging on Bard social media platforms. For communications support at Bard and questions or comments about this website, please email [email protected].
Representing Bard College

Representing Bard College

Members of the Bard community who communicate about the College through media act as important representatives for Bard. Bard's work in education and civic engagement, mission to train critical thinkers, and efforts on the global stage are conveyed online and through publications by our staff, faculty, and students.

Representing Bard College

The Bard Network continues to expand, with the Annandale campus acting as a hub to many satellites, both here in the United States and abroad. The more consistent we can be in communicating our identity as an institution, the clearer these relationships will be, and the more effectively we will reach prospective and current students, alumni/ae, families, and the public at large.

Bard’s progressive vision as a network of academic opportunity and community engagement rather than a single, traditional college campus is what makes us unique. Bard’s institutes and partnerships operate with a great deal of autonomy, and that helps us tell Bard's story as a series of connected stories. Our diversity is our strength. Communicating the identity of Bard programs is essential, and identifying them in reference to Bard’s greater mission is critical, with both visual and verbal material, in tone as well as content.
