Suppose you're one of a group of people responsible for a decision: choosing which applicant to hire into a job; deciding what food to have available at a banquet; or choosing who's going to represent you in Washington, D.C. How can you do it? Social choice theory is the branch of mathematics that studies how groups can make decisions.
