The fund-raiser has been organized by Rachel Mahoney, a first-year student at Bard College. Mahoney had organized twenty-four hour soccer marathons at her high school for the benefit of the fight against muscular dystrophy. With the news of the refugee crisis she decided to try the idea at Bard. In addition to the Bard students and community who are participating, Red Hook High School students will be playing, and all area residents are invited to attend and participate.
The money raised will go to three relief agencies active with the Kosovar refugees: the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, and UNICEF.
