How Bard Determines your Budget

The annual operating budget is a statement of proposed expenditures for a particular fiscal year. The budget reflects campus programmatic initiatives and identifies the proposed sources of funds to finance programs, as well as the functional nature of the expenditures (for example, instruction, academic support, and student services). When approved by the Board of Trustees, this document is the College’s authorization to incur expenditures and to collect and apply the revenues to the appropriate activities. The Business Office plans and forecasts the future needs of the College so that 1) on-going operations are adequately and appropriately resourced and 2) special projects and initiatives can be prioritized and integrated in the budget blueprint in a strategic fashion with respect to enrollment support, required physical plant needs and staffing and external funding participation.

Step-by-Step and Video Instructions

For all of the instructions below you should first:
1. Open a new incognito window in Chrome, go to bardssb.bard.edu
2. Click Log in with Bard Account and enter your Bard credentials.
3. Click on the Finance tab and then the Department Budget tile.

Accessing Your Departmental Budgets

Using the Bard SSB My Finance Query
  • Accessing Department Budgets
    1. Log in as instructed above
    2. Click on My Financial Query
    3. Click on Your Budget Tile
    4. To query the current year's budget, click the Pencil icon or the New Query Button
    5. In the Fiscal Year menu type the end year for the Budget

Budget Development Tool

  1. Log in as instructed above.
  2. Click Budget Development tile
  3. Click Budget Development Worksheets
  4. Under Retrieve Existing Worksheet Query, select the query for the upcoming year. Click Retrieve Query.
  5. Adopted Budget and Permanent Budget Adjustments should be checked. Click Continue.
  6. Type in your Organization number and click to select it. Scroll down and Submit.

Restricted Fund Report

Accessing the Report
Log in as instructed above except:
  1. Click on the Finance tab and select the Restricted Fund Budget tile
  2. A new tab will pop up that brings you into an Evisions splash screen
  3. Click use the Bard Single Sign-On (make sure username and password are empty)
