Wendy Weckwerth

Biography: Wendy Weckwerth (B.A., Vassar College; M.F.A. and D.F.A., Yale School of Drama) is a teacher, dramaturg, editor, and translator based in Minneapolis. As the dramaturg for New York City based Voice & Vision Theatre and in freelance capacities at The Playwrights' Center in Minneapolis, and elsewhere, she has an ongoing commitment to new-play dramaturgy and advocacy for contemporary performance. She has also collaborated on performances presented at the History Theatre, P.S. 122, Ensemble Studio Theater, Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, and Yale Cabaret among others. Her commissioned translation of Ingmar Bergman's Autumn Sonata screenplay was the basis for Robert Woodruff’s stage adaptation that premiered at Yale Rep in April 2011. She co-adapted, with Jean Wagner, Calderon's Life Is a Dream, and has recently completed translations of Erik XIV and Karl XII, two of August Strindberg's history plays. She is a former Associate Editor of Theater magazine, and has been on the faculties of Dartmouth, Colby, and Mount Holyoke Colleges. She joined Bard's Language and Thinking Program faculty in 2010.Contact:
