Bard offers employment opportunities to all students. Work-study opportunities are available to full-time students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and who qualify for federal financial aid based on need. Campus employment opportunities are available to international students and U.S. students who did not qualify for work-study aid.

Newly Hired as a Bard Student Employee?

If you are a first-time student employee at Bard College please complete the following forms.

New Student Hire Checklist

Submit completed, signed forms and copies of identifications  (please refer to page 3 of the I-9 form) to the Student Employment Office in person or via email. International Students please contact Student Employment at [email protected] for required identification documents.

  • Policy Acknowledgment
  • W-4 (withholding allowance certificate) 
  • I-9 (employment eligibility) 
  • IT-2104 (NYS withholding allowance certificate) 
       OR
  • IT-2104-E (certificate of exemption from NYS withholding) 
  • Direct Deposit Form (Optional) to have your earnings deposited directly to your personal bank account.
IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE THE ABOVE STEPS, YOU WILL NOT BE PAID, EVEN IF YOUR EMPLOYER PERMITS YOU TO BEGIN WORKING.

Why Work Study?

Work Study eligible students get priority in hiring.

However, a work study award is not a guarantee of a job. 
Questions regarding work study eligibility should be directed to the Office of Financial Aid.

How to Find a Campus Job

Like the world outside of Bard, we have more students seeking positions than there are positions available.
  • Handshake
    There are many different kinds of jobs here at Bard, from office work to outdoor maintenance.
    • Browse through the online list of current student employment opportunities.
    • Pick at least three that seem appropriate for your schedule and job skills.
    • Choose one that fits with your personality and the demands of your academic course load.

    1. Sign in the first time by using your @bard.edu email address; click "Next".
    2. Once logging in with your email you will be prompted to complete the rest of your profile. Include as much information in your profile as possible.
    3. In the left hand toolbar, click on Jobs & Internships.
    4. Under the "filters" section, click "View All" under "Job Type".
    5. In the list, check off "On Campus Student Employment" and then click "Done".
    6. You will then see all of the current Campus and Work Study jobs.

    The Student Resource Group (SRG) also provides opportunities for student employment. View current job opportunities and fill out the employment form on their website. SRG is a student run organization focused on identifying student needs and addressing them. SRG hires work-study and non work-study students. If you’re interested in working for SRG, email [email protected] for open positions!"

  • Job-Finding Tips
    • A resume is a good document to have available to send to prospective employers. Even if you have not worked, you can indicate clubs, organizations, and special interests!
    • We encourage those students with transportation to view Handshake for potential off-campus positions that might be available in nearby Red Hook and Tivoli.
