Online Event The London Critical Theory Summer School returns on Birkbeck's campus in central London next summer. The 2025 LCTSS will take place from 23 June to 4 July. Throughout the two weeks, attendees will be immersed in a substantial program of study with acclaimed critical thinkers - confirmed so far are Jaco Barnard-Naudé, Eduardo Cadava and Sara Nadal-Melsió, alongside our returning speakers, Costas Douzinas, Stephen Frosh, Esther Leslie, Achille Mbembe, Sarah Nuttall, Laura Mulvey, Jacqueline Rose and Slavoj Žižek.
OSF (Open Society Foundations) is sponsoring the 2025 BIH London Critical Theory Summer School, offering 14 full scholarships (which cover fully the fee and accommodation and also pay for a fixed rate contribution to travel and visa costs), up to five partial scholarships (which cover fully the fee and also pay for a fixed rate contribution to travel and visa costs) and up to five fees-only bursaries, all for exceptional students from OSUN-member institutions but not exclusively. We especially welcome scholarship applications from third-year undergraduate students as well as Masters and Ph.D. students and in particular those located in the Global South or in places with no access to similar experiences.
Bard's 100 Days initiative brings Bard faculty, staff, students, and surrounding communities together in a set of informal, self-directed working groups focused on four themes: immigration, gender, climate, and government institutions. As the new presidential administration begins, the initiative assigns media fellows to coordinate and disseminate accurate news and information that keep abreast of legislative developments and other news related to the above themes with the primary goal of expanding civic literacy.
What do Media Fellows Do? Media Fellows will be responsible for disseminating accurate and well-researched materials that identify and track proposed federal, state, and local legislation, executive orders, and other actions. The goal is to help the Bard community understand how federal, state, and local governments interact.
Basic Media Fellow duties might include: -Produce weekly multimedia pieces focused on their theme that accurately reflect facts on the ground in Washington, Albany, and Dutchess County tracking government actions from the federal to local levels -Attend regular briefing meetings with administrators and faculty from the Center for Civic Engagement, Human Rights Project, Council for Inclusive Excellence, and other Bard programs/departments -Develop campaigns that debunk disinformation -Table in Kline, the Campus Center, and other locations in order to answer community questions and raise awareness about their theme -Provide briefs on pending legislation related to their theme -Develop multimedia resources identifying areas for action related to their theme
Applicants will need to submit a resume and writing sample, along with sample social media content (blog posts, videos, promotional material, etc.), via the form below.
Successful candidates will earn a semester stipend of $850 with the potential to continue the fellowship beyond the spring.

War and the City: Urban Agglomerations in Russia’s Conquest of Donbas

CEU's Hub for the Politics of the Anthropocene presents an academic seminar with Serhiy Kudelia, Baylor University, on "Urban Agglomerations in Russia’s Conquest of Donbas." Since its inception in 2014, the Russo-Ukrainian war has been mainly fought in the most densely urbanized and heavily industrialized region of Ukraine – the Donbas.
Professor Kudelia will examine how the urban and industrial landscapes of the region affected the course of the war and, in turn, were transformed as a result. It will explain how the density of urban agglomerations of Donbas enabled quick removal of Ukraine’s sovereign control over the region in spring of 2014, while its dilapidated industrial base turned into a vital material and ideological resource for the nascent separatist movement. With the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, high urban density of the region became, by contrast, an important structural obstacle for further Russian conquest.
During the seminar Kudelia will draw on his field research in the towns of Donbas prior to 2022 and on his forthcoming book Seize the City, Undo the State: The Inception of Russia’s War on Ukraine (Oxford, UK: Oxford University Press, 2025).
Serhiy Kudelia is Associate Professor of Political Science at Baylor University, where he teaches courses on political regimes, state-building and political violence, and Ukrainian and Russian politics. His research, published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, deals with various aspects of politics in Ukraine, the armed conflict in Donbas and Russo-Ukrainian war. He earlier held teaching and research positions at the University of St. Andrews (UK), the University of Basel (Switzerland), George Washington University (US), Johns Hopkins University (US), and the National University ‘Kyiv-Mohyla Academy’ (Ukraine).

It introduces a calibrated Stock-Flow Consistent (SFC) model based on long-term Eurozone data, analyzing the macroeconomic and distributive impacts of various CBDC policy scenarios. The findings shed light on the intricate trade-offs involved in CBDC implementation, particularly their implications for income distribution, financial stability, and economic growth. We will also discuss the divergent strategies adopted by the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank (ECB) in approaching CBDCs. While the ECB embraces innovation to safeguard its monetary sovereignty, the Federal Reserve maintains a cautious stance, influenced by domestic considerations and political resistance. "Talk More. Fight Less": A Demonstration of the SWAY Chat Platform

The Bard Center for the Study of Hate presents an online opportunity to try out SWAY, a new AI-based platform for engaging difficult conversations. BCSH recently hosted a webinar on how AI be used to reduce hate, deepen student discussions of divisive topics, and improve teaching and learning.
Simon Cullen and Nicholas DiBella of Carnegie Mellon University discussed and demonstrated their AI-scaffolded group chat platform for students called SWAY, which was chronicled in Inside Higher Ed. Cullen and DiBella are now offering an opportunity for OSUN faculty, students, staff to try out this new technology.
SWAY connects students with differing perspectives into one-on-one chats and facilitates better discussions between them. Inspired by John Stuart Mill's radical view that engaging with opposing perspectives is an essential tool for improving reasoning and solving complex problems, SWAY aims to create online environments where students can discuss controversial issues more openly and constructively.

We will combine pranayama (breathwork practices) with a gentle flow, to create a space of solace from stress and anxiety. The class will be a mixture of hatha postures and dynamic sequences, with lots of variations and alternatives, allowing students to shape their own practice. Some classes will also end with sound baths before silent meditation.

Vienna Basin: An Anthropocene Process Landscape in Central Europe

The Hub for the Politics of the Anthropocene (OHPA) presents a seminar with Benjamin Steininger, discussing the Vienna Basin and its oil and gas fields as a showcase for how to deal with Nature/Culture-History in modernity and Anthropocene. Observing the history of oil and gas exploration in the region, Steininger will trace at least four different versions of experience with petro-modernity and Anthropocene-agency (international capitalism, Nazi-war-economy, Soviet imperialism, social democratic-catholic petro-modernity). The talk argues that it takes this type of bottom up field work and a comparative 'petrocultures' or 'Anthropocene-comparision' as performed in the 'Atlas of Petromodernity' to interpret the planetary agency of the so called 'Anthropos'.
Benjamin Steininger is a historian of science and technology and a curator. He works as a postdoc at the Cluster of Excellence UniSysCat at TU-Berlin and at the MPI of Geoanthropology in Jena. His main Anthropocene research fields are industrial chemistry and petro-modernity. From 2012 to 2016 he led a participatory research and collection project on 100 years of oil and gas in the Vienna basin. His open access book with Alexander Klose, "Atlas der Petromoderne'", was published in German and Russian in 2020 and in 2024 in an enlarged American version with an introduction by Stephanie LeMenager.

Red Hook Community Center, 59 Fisk St, Red Hook A Repair Café is a free meeting place where people come together to repair "broken but beloved" things. We love keeping fixable things out of the landfill! We will have volunteers with repair skills ("Repair Coaches") in all kinds of fields ready to fix. Sometimes they can just provide advice, and sometimes more parts are needed than they have, but they have a good time trying!
For this Saturday, we have coaches covering most things: electrical/ mechanical, wood repair, lamps, computers, cell phones, jewelry, sewing technology help, clothing, soft toys, electronics, computers, zippers bikes, book binding. Knife sharpening will be available till 11:30am. This month we are lucky to have Jay's Woodshop offering Chair Repair Demonstrations that repeat throughout the event. Celebrate the Year of the Snake with music! Now in its sixth year, The Sound of Spring is an authentic Chinese New Year concert featuring dramatic orchestral works and world-class Chinese instrument soloists, led by Maestro Jindong Cai.
This year, The Orchestra Now is joined by soloists from the legendary faculty of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing on erhu, sheng (Chinese mouth organ), and percussion. The diverse program combines traditional favorites with new compositions, including a commission especially for this concert by Bard faculty member Xinyan Li.

Levy Conference Room, Blithewood Feminist economics aims to achieve justice for all. Some notable economists have argued that in the past half-century, women in the US have made huge strides toward greater equality in the labor market: The Grand Gender Convergence. However, this talk shows that this narrative hides the facts that, firstly, the convergence was partly driven by men doing relatively worse, and secondly, that the gains for women were not equal among all women, but favored White women. In becoming more "like men," most notably by shifting out of care occupations, White women are increasingly benefiting from a system characterized by the very hierarchies that feminism, especially Black feminism, challenges. These hierarchies, this talk argues, need to be overcome not just for the sake of greater social justice (for people of all genders), but also to address the economic challenges posed by climate breakdown.

Safety Regulation: For Whom? The Effects of Poultry Slaughter Line Speed Regulation on Firm Profits

Levy Conference Room, Blithewood This talk examines the effects on firm profits of three regulatory changes in the US poultry industry from the 1990s through 2020. The US Department of Agriculture regulates line speeds in poultry slaughter establishments to prevent foodborne illness. At the same time, large poultry companies consistently lobby for higher line speeds to increase throughput and reduce per-unit costs, and existing literature cites regulation limiting line speed as a bottleneck to firm productivity. This talk discusses how line speed increases do not consistently boost any measure of profitability in the short-run. Findings suggest that firms, which compete over prices and therefore try to minimize costs, push for deregulatory measures that may ultimately intensify the very competition that undermines their profits, a claim that offers important insights for policymakers who must weigh trade-offs and often view line speed increases as an unqualified positive for the industry.

Online Event With special guests Neil Roberts and Jess Feldman on the topic of our spring 2025 conference: Hannah Arendt and Black political thought.
Neil Roberts is associate dean of the faculty and the John B. McCoy and John T. McCoy professor of Africana studies, political theory, and the philosophy of religion at Williams College. Roberts was President of the Caribbean Philosophical Association from 2016-19, and he served for several years on the Executive Editorial Board of the journal Political Theory. His publications include the books Creolizing Hannah Arendt (2024, with Marilyn Nissim-Sabat), A Political Companion to Frederick Douglass (2018), the collaborative volume Journeys in Caribbean Thought (2016), and the award-winning text Freedom as Marronage (2015) as well as numerous articles, book forewords (such as the 2024 foreword to Teodros Kiros's Zara Yacob's Inauguration of Modernity and Cardiocentrism), and chapters on creolizing the canon, Black radicalism, totalitarianism and modern politics, and the bounds of political theory. His work has appeared in periodicals such as Black Perspectives, Caribbean Studies, The C.L.R. James Journal, Contemporary Political Theory, HA: The Journal of the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and the Humanities, Perspectives on Politics, Small Axe, and Theory & Event. How to Live Free in an Age of Pessimism is his next monograph, and he's at work both on a study of Haile Selassie I and the Oxford Handbook of Sylvia Wynter.
Jess Feldman is the Klemens von Klemperer Postdoctoral Fellow at the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College. They hold an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Brown University and a B.A. in Economics from Amherst College. Jess's research focuses on ideas of collective action in the history of political thought. Their book manuscript, Reinventing the General Strike, draws on 20th-century political thought, contemporary democratic theory, and African-American political thought to develop an account of how the general strike has shaped the democratic imaginary. Jess's work on W.E.B. Du Bois's Black Reconstruction has been published in Political Theory, and an essay on Hannah Arendt's political theory won the Best Paper Award (2024) from the Foundations of Political Theory section of the American Political Science Association. World leaders regularly weaponize false stories for political gain, and social media sites such as Meta are backing off from fact-checking initiatives. In this interactive workshop, we will explore how information, misinformation, and disinformation are disseminated and consumed, how this affects civic life, and the role we play in these dynamics as citizens. Together we’ll examine recent statements from the White House, sleuth out the facts, and discuss strategies for dealing with misinformation during the first 100 days of the presidency and beyond. We will combine pranayama (breathwork practices) with a gentle flow, to create a space of solace from stress and anxiety. The class will be a mixture of hatha postures and dynamic sequences, with lots of variations and alternatives, allowing students to shape their own practice. Some classes will also end with sound baths before silent meditation.

Applications Open for Birkbeck's London Critical Theory Summer School

Online Event The London Critical Theory Summer School returns on Birkbeck's campus in central London next summer. The 2025 LCTSS will take place from 23 June to 4 July. Throughout the two weeks, attendees will be immersed in a substantial program of study with acclaimed critical thinkers - confirmed so far are Jaco Barnard-Naudé, Eduardo Cadava and Sara Nadal-Melsió, alongside our returning speakers, Costas Douzinas, Stephen Frosh, Esther Leslie, Achille Mbembe, Sarah Nuttall, Laura Mulvey, Jacqueline Rose and Slavoj Žižek.
OSF (Open Society Foundations) is sponsoring the 2025 BIH London Critical Theory Summer School, offering 14 full scholarships (which cover fully the fee and accommodation and also pay for a fixed rate contribution to travel and visa costs), up to five partial scholarships (which cover fully the fee and also pay for a fixed rate contribution to travel and visa costs) and up to five fees-only bursaries, all for exceptional students from OSUN-member institutions but not exclusively. We especially welcome scholarship applications from third-year undergraduate students as well as Masters and Ph.D. students and in particular those located in the Global South or in places with no access to similar experiences.
Bard's 100 Days initiative brings Bard faculty, staff, students, and surrounding communities together in a set of informal, self-directed working groups focused on four themes: immigration, gender, climate, and government institutions. As the new presidential administration begins, the initiative assigns media fellows to coordinate and disseminate accurate news and information that keep abreast of legislative developments and other news related to the above themes with the primary goal of expanding civic literacy.
What do Media Fellows Do? Media Fellows will be responsible for disseminating accurate and well-researched materials that identify and track proposed federal, state, and local legislation, executive orders, and other actions. The goal is to help the Bard community understand how federal, state, and local governments interact.
Basic Media Fellow duties might include: -Produce weekly multimedia pieces focused on their theme that accurately reflect facts on the ground in Washington, Albany, and Dutchess County tracking government actions from the federal to local levels -Attend regular briefing meetings with administrators and faculty from the Center for Civic Engagement, Human Rights Project, Council for Inclusive Excellence, and other Bard programs/departments -Develop campaigns that debunk disinformation -Table in Kline, the Campus Center, and other locations in order to answer community questions and raise awareness about their theme -Provide briefs on pending legislation related to their theme -Develop multimedia resources identifying areas for action related to their theme
Applicants will need to submit a resume and writing sample, along with sample social media content (blog posts, videos, promotional material, etc.), via the form below.
Successful candidates will earn a semester stipend of $850 with the potential to continue the fellowship beyond the spring.

The Gender Equity Leadership Initiative fosters advocacy and leadership skills through training, funding, networking, and mentorship focused on gender equity. We coordinate a variety of opportunities by sponsoring on-campus events with numerous speakers and scholars and work to grow student networks by fostering connections between students and speakers, alumni, community partners, and mentors in the field.

War and the City: Urban Agglomerations in Russia’s Conquest of Donbas

CEU's Hub for the Politics of the Anthropocene presents an academic seminar with Serhiy Kudelia, Baylor University, on "Urban Agglomerations in Russia’s Conquest of Donbas." Since its inception in 2014, the Russo-Ukrainian war has been mainly fought in the most densely urbanized and heavily industrialized region of Ukraine – the Donbas.
Professor Kudelia will examine how the urban and industrial landscapes of the region affected the course of the war and, in turn, were transformed as a result. It will explain how the density of urban agglomerations of Donbas enabled quick removal of Ukraine’s sovereign control over the region in spring of 2014, while its dilapidated industrial base turned into a vital material and ideological resource for the nascent separatist movement. With the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, high urban density of the region became, by contrast, an important structural obstacle for further Russian conquest.
During the seminar Kudelia will draw on his field research in the towns of Donbas prior to 2022 and on his forthcoming book Seize the City, Undo the State: The Inception of Russia’s War on Ukraine (Oxford, UK: Oxford University Press, 2025).
Serhiy Kudelia is Associate Professor of Political Science at Baylor University, where he teaches courses on political regimes, state-building and political violence, and Ukrainian and Russian politics. His research, published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, deals with various aspects of politics in Ukraine, the armed conflict in Donbas and Russo-Ukrainian war. He earlier held teaching and research positions at the University of St. Andrews (UK), the University of Basel (Switzerland), George Washington University (US), Johns Hopkins University (US), and the National University ‘Kyiv-Mohyla Academy’ (Ukraine).

It introduces a calibrated Stock-Flow Consistent (SFC) model based on long-term Eurozone data, analyzing the macroeconomic and distributive impacts of various CBDC policy scenarios. The findings shed light on the intricate trade-offs involved in CBDC implementation, particularly their implications for income distribution, financial stability, and economic growth. We will also discuss the divergent strategies adopted by the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank (ECB) in approaching CBDCs. While the ECB embraces innovation to safeguard its monetary sovereignty, the Federal Reserve maintains a cautious stance, influenced by domestic considerations and political resistance. This dual perspective provides a comprehensive view of the challenges and opportunities posed by CBDCs in reshaping the future of global monetary policy.

"Talk More. Fight Less": A Demonstration of the SWAY Chat Platform

The Bard Center for the Study of Hate presents an online opportunity to try out SWAY, a new AI-based platform for engaging difficult conversations. BCSH recently hosted a webinar on how AI be used to reduce hate, deepen student discussions of divisive topics, and improve teaching and learning.
Simon Cullen and Nicholas DiBella of Carnegie Mellon University discussed and demonstrated their AI-scaffolded group chat platform for students called SWAY, which was chronicled in Inside Higher Ed. Cullen and DiBella are now offering an opportunity for OSUN faculty, students, staff to try out this new technology.
SWAY connects students with differing perspectives into one-on-one chats and facilitates better discussions between them. Inspired by John Stuart Mill's radical view that engaging with opposing perspectives is an essential tool for improving reasoning and solving complex problems, SWAY aims to create online environments where students can discuss controversial issues more openly and constructively.

We will combine pranayama (breathwork practices) with a gentle flow, to create a space of solace from stress and anxiety. The class will be a mixture of hatha postures and dynamic sequences, with lots of variations and alternatives, allowing students to shape their own practice. Some classes will also end with sound baths before silent meditation.

Vienna Basin: An Anthropocene Process Landscape in Central Europe

The Hub for the Politics of the Anthropocene (OHPA) presents a seminar with Benjamin Steininger, discussing the Vienna Basin and its oil and gas fields as a showcase for how to deal with Nature/Culture-History in modernity and Anthropocene. Observing the history of oil and gas exploration in the region, Steininger will trace at least four different versions of experience with petro-modernity and Anthropocene-agency (international capitalism, Nazi-war-economy, Soviet imperialism, social democratic-catholic petro-modernity). The talk argues that it takes this type of bottom up field work and a comparative 'petrocultures' or 'Anthropocene-comparision' as performed in the 'Atlas of Petromodernity' to interpret the planetary agency of the so called 'Anthropos'.
Benjamin Steininger is a historian of science and technology and a curator. He works as a postdoc at the Cluster of Excellence UniSysCat at TU-Berlin and at the MPI of Geoanthropology in Jena. His main Anthropocene research fields are industrial chemistry and petro-modernity. From 2012 to 2016 he led a participatory research and collection project on 100 years of oil and gas in the Vienna basin. His open access book with Alexander Klose, "Atlas der Petromoderne'", was published in German and Russian in 2020 and in 2024 in an enlarged American version with an introduction by Stephanie LeMenager.

Red Hook Community Center, 59 Fisk St, Red Hook A Repair Café is a free meeting place where people come together to repair "broken but beloved" things. We love keeping fixable things out of the landfill! We will have volunteers with repair skills ("Repair Coaches") in all kinds of fields ready to fix. Sometimes they can just provide advice, and sometimes more parts are needed than they have, but they have a good time trying!
For this Saturday, we have coaches covering most things: electrical/ mechanical, wood repair, lamps, computers, cell phones, jewelry, sewing technology help, clothing, soft toys, electronics, computers, zippers bikes, book binding. Knife sharpening will be available till 11:30am. This month we are lucky to have Jay's Woodshop offering Chair Repair Demonstrations that repeat throughout the event. Celebrate the Year of the Snake with music! Now in its sixth year, The Sound of Spring is an authentic Chinese New Year concert featuring dramatic orchestral works and world-class Chinese instrument soloists, led by Maestro Jindong Cai.
This year, The Orchestra Now is joined by soloists from the legendary faculty of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing on erhu, sheng (Chinese mouth organ), and percussion. The diverse program combines traditional favorites with new compositions, including a commission especially for this concert by Bard faculty member Xinyan Li.

Levy Conference Room, Blithewood Feminist economics aims to achieve justice for all. Some notable economists have argued that in the past half-century, women in the US have made huge strides toward greater equality in the labor market: The Grand Gender Convergence. However, this talk shows that this narrative hides the facts that, firstly, the convergence was partly driven by men doing relatively worse, and secondly, that the gains for women were not equal among all women, but favored White women. In becoming more "like men," most notably by shifting out of care occupations, White women are increasingly benefiting from a system characterized by the very hierarchies that feminism, especially Black feminism, challenges. These hierarchies, this talk argues, need to be overcome not just for the sake of greater social justice (for people of all genders), but also to address the economic challenges posed by climate breakdown.

Safety Regulation: For Whom? The Effects of Poultry Slaughter Line Speed Regulation on Firm Profits

Levy Conference Room, Blithewood This talk examines the effects on firm profits of three regulatory changes in the US poultry industry from the 1990s through 2020. The US Department of Agriculture regulates line speeds in poultry slaughter establishments to prevent foodborne illness. At the same time, large poultry companies consistently lobby for higher line speeds to increase throughput and reduce per-unit costs, and existing literature cites regulation limiting line speed as a bottleneck to firm productivity. This talk discusses how line speed increases do not consistently boost any measure of profitability in the short-run. Findings suggest that firms, which compete over prices and therefore try to minimize costs, push for deregulatory measures that may ultimately intensify the very competition that undermines their profits, a claim that offers important insights for policymakers who must weigh trade-offs and often view line speed increases as an unqualified positive for the industry.

Neil Roberts is associate dean of the faculty and the John B. McCoy and John T. McCoy professor of Africana studies, political theory, and the philosophy of religion at Williams College. Roberts was President of the Caribbean Philosophical Association from 2016-19, and he served for several years on the Executive Editorial Board of the journal Political Theory. His publications include the books Creolizing Hannah Arendt (2024, with Marilyn Nissim-Sabat), A Political Companion to Frederick Douglass (2018), the collaborative volume Journeys in Caribbean Thought (2016), and the award-winning text Freedom as Marronage (2015) as well as numerous articles, book forewords (such as the 2024 foreword to Teodros Kiros's Zara Yacob's Inauguration of Modernity and Cardiocentrism), and chapters on creolizing the canon, Black radicalism, totalitarianism and modern politics, and the bounds of political theory. His work has appeared in periodicals such as Black Perspectives, Caribbean Studies, The C.L.R. James Journal, Contemporary Political Theory, HA: The Journal of the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and the Humanities, Perspectives on Politics, Small Axe, and Theory & Event. How to Live Free in an Age of Pessimism is his next monograph, and he's at work both on a study of Haile Selassie I and the Oxford Handbook of Sylvia Wynter.
Jess Feldman is the Klemens von Klemperer Postdoctoral Fellow at the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College. They hold an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Brown University and a B.A. in Economics from Amherst College. Jess's research focuses on ideas of collective action in the history of political thought. Their book manuscript, Reinventing the General Strike, draws on 20th-century political thought, contemporary democratic theory, and African-American political thought to develop an account of how the general strike has shaped the democratic imaginary. Jess's work on W.E.B. Du Bois's Black Reconstruction has been published in Political Theory, and an essay on Hannah Arendt's political theory won the Best Paper Award (2024) from the Foundations of Political Theory section of the American Political Science Association. Experimental Humanities Sound Booth at Stevenson Library

The booth, designed, built, and managed by Bard students and faculty, is timed to coincide with the 2024 election cycle. We hope to record as many community members as possible in this important moment. Interviews or self-recordings will be archived and remain anonymous. Students, faculty, and staff are all welcome.
Charles P. Stevenson Jr. Library False and misleading information in all its forms is having profound effects on democracy and civic life around the world. World leaders regularly weaponize false stories for political gain, and social media sites such as Meta are backing off from fact-checking initiatives. In this interactive workshop, we will explore how information, misinformation, and disinformation are disseminated and consumed, how this affects civic life, and the role we play in these dynamics as citizens. Together we’ll examine recent statements from the White House, sleuth out the facts, and discuss strategies for dealing with misinformation during the first 100 days of the presidency and beyond. Stevenson Athletic Center, Classroom 1 This class is about listening to the body and focusing on form and breathwork to create a moving meditation. We will combine pranayama (breathwork practices) with a gentle flow, to create a space of solace from stress and anxiety. The class will be a mixture of hatha postures and dynamic sequences, with lots of variations and alternatives, allowing students to shape their own practice. Some classes will also end with sound baths before silent meditation.
