Bard Early Colleges Hosted Summer Intensive Program with Bard College Berlin

For the second year in a row, Bard Early Colleges (BEC) hosted a three-week summer academic intensive in partnership with Bard College Berlin (BCB) in Berlin, Germany. Together, BEC and BCB designed a residential program introducing early college students to travel abroad and to the history, culture, and art scene of Germany’s vibrant capital. In summer 2024, 18 students representing nine Bard Early College programs lived and studied together on BCB’s campus. In addition to undertaking coursework, they explored Berlin's museums, markets, cultural sites, and memorials, visiting sites like Teufelsberg, an abandoned Cold War era listening station turned street art gallery, the East Side Gallery on the remaining stretch of the Berlin Wall, museums on Museum Island, and attended the theater for live productions of The Threepenny Opera and Cabaret. “The program allows connections and relationships, creating a close-knit community all while immersing you in a worthwhile experience,” one student said of their experience.
