Bard MBA Faculty Member Kathy Hipple Talks to New York Times about How the U.S. Oil Industry Uses Ukraine Invasion to Push for More Drilling at Home

In a New York Times article, Kathy Hipple, finance professor in the Bard MBA in Sustainability program, says the current crisis in Ukraine has given the U.S. oil industry a great talking point to promote domestic drilling. But, she warns, it misses the point that we are overly dependent on fossil fuels. “Does anyone want to continue to be dependent on oligarchs in Russia, Saudi Arabia, Canada’s oil, a handful of private companies in the United States? To my mind, that’s not resilient,” said Hipple.
