Bard’s Kenneth S. Stern Comments in New York Times on Republican Condemnation of GOP Lawmakers Appearing at White Nationalist Conference
The New York Times reports that Republican leaders are speaking out against the appearance of congress members Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) and Paul Gosar (R-Arizona) at the America First Political Action Conference, a far-right conference with ties to white supremacy. Kenneth Stern, director of the Bard Center for the Study of Hate, likened the moment to 1991 when President George H.W. Bush publicly denounced former Ku Klux Klan member David Duke for endorsing Nazism. “I’m less worried about Marjorie Taylor Greene showing up at a conference with people she should be embarrassed to be with and more concerned with the failure of a lot of people in the Republican Party to call out the Big Lie with Donald Trump and the 2020 election,” said Stern.
