National Climate Seminar: Rebuilding Bipartisan Support for Climate Action

Bard Center for Environmental Policy Presents

National Climate Seminar: Rebuilding Bipartisan Support for Climate Action

Wednesday, September 21, 2016
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm EDT/GMT-4
Fred Rich, Author Getting to Green

View the Webinar here.

On September 21st, join Fred Rich, author of Getting to Green, Saving Nature: A Bipartisan Solution, for a discussion of how the American environmental movement lost its way. Rich will tell the story of American conservation’s bipartisan roots and explain the evolution of what he calls the “Great Estrangement”, the emergence of a conservative movement deeply suspicious of Green goals. Rich will offer up considerations on how to get the Green movement back on a bipartisan track. "The record of voluntary community, state and regional action (and action by other countries) shows that we can and should do the right thing even in the absence of a binding global treaty." --Fred Rich

Rich studied public and international affairs at Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School and moral philosophy at King's College, Cambridge, before receiving his law degree at University of Virginia Law School. Rich serves as head of the New York State Environmental Leaders Group, Chair of the Foundation for Landscape Studies and the Scenic Hudson Land Trust, Vice Chair of the national Land Trust Alliance and The Battery Conservancy, and director of the Hudson Highlands Land Trust. He is the winner of the Battery Urban Farmer Award, the Environmental Advocates of New York Advocates Award, and the Frances Reese Medal.

NATIONAL CLIMATE SEMINAR

Bard Center for Environmental Policy hosts the National Climate Seminar, a webinar series, at 12pm EST.
