Life Is What You Make It: A Concert & Conversation

Life Is What You Make It: A Concert & Conversation

Thursday, March 15, 2018
Fisher Center, LUMA Theater
7:30 pm EDT/GMT-4
With Peter Buffett
Emmy Award-winning composer, musician, and philanthropist Peter Buffett says the encouragement to forge his own path in life was the greatest inheritance he received from his parents (Warren Buffett and the late Susan Buffett).

In an intimate concert and candid conversation with the audience, Buffett aims to redefine success and privilege by sharing the story of his life growing up in Omaha -- how it set the course for him to follow his passion for music, and how that passion was transformed through philanthropy.

The concert and conversation is the staged incarnation of “Life Is What You Make It: Find Your Own Path to Fulfillment,” Buffett’s New York Times bestselling autobiography.

The multimedia show features Buffett on piano and Michael Kott on cello and includes projected photos of Buffett’s childhood and video clips of his work in film (“Dances With Wolves”), TV (commercials) and philanthropy. Buffett is Co-President with his wife, Jennifer Buffett, of the NoVo Foundation, which works to shift culture from one of domination and exploitation to partnership and collaboration, understanding that girls and women will be the primary agents of that change.

Buffett takes questions from the audience throughout the show and will sign books after the performance.
“With humility and candor, Peter took us on an intimate journey of his life and his impressive philanthropic work with women and girls. His profound storytelling and meaningful music left us deeply moved and inspired” —Shirley Moulton, The ACADEMi of Life

“Very few have the upbringing of Peter Buffett: a very real family with knots and gnarls like any other, but with an eerie commitment to serve ideas and the human race in general, whether that be through philanthropy, song, or conversation, or this -- folk wisdom for the folks.” —Bono on “Life Is What You Make It: Find Your Own Path to Fulfillment”

Proceeds benefit the Center for Creative Education.
