Hannah Arendt Center Presents
The Dialogue Project: Hope in Action with Ann Rubin
Wednesday, January 21, 2026
Online Event
1:00 pm – 2:30 pm EST/GMT-5
The readings and videos offer insights into the ways we can understand and access hope to transcend the daunting challenges of the current global political climate. We address Arendt's concerns that hope is a barrier to action and her admonition to confront reality as a way of being in the world, alongside Byung-Chul Han's perspective on hope. In "The Spirit of Hope," Han says "Hope is a searching movement, an attempt to find a firm footing and a sense of direction…by going beyond the events of the past beyond what already exists, it enters into the unknown, goes down paths of what-is-not- yet."1:00 pm – 2:30 pm EST/GMT-5
