Exhibition Featuring Sikena Khadija ’27 Opens at DRAW Gallery
An exhibition by Sikena Khadija ’27 at Kingston’s DRAW Gallery was profiled in the Daily Freeman. The DRAW is an exhibition space owned by the Midtown Arts District in Kingston. It shows work by Kingston High School and Youth Workforce alumni/ae, DRAW teaching artists, and student work from the Gallery’s classes. “Between Water and Sky” is a collection of photographs and video focused on the Erie Canal and Hudson River. “Through quiet landscapes shaped by fog and shifting skies, the series reflects on how land and water carry histories that remain present,” writes Midtown Kingston Arts District of the exhibition.
Khadija is studying art history and visual culture at Bard. She is currently working on her project Tidal, which traces Black memory along the Hudson River and other waterways in the Northeast. The opening reception for “Between Water and Sky” is February 7 and the exhibit runs through February 24.
The Art History and Visual Culture Program at Bard introduces students to visual material across a broad range of periods and societies.
