Fisher Center Receives the Destination Dutchess Award of Distinction for Accessibility 2025
The Fisher Center at Bard College received the 2025 Destination Dutchess Award of Distinction for Accessibility. The award recognizes events or attractions that go beyond just ADA compliance, providing “exceptional, welcoming experiences for travelers with disabilities.” Director of Audience and Member Services David Steffen said the Fisher Center prioritizes accessibility through maps with parking, seating, and assisted listening device information so guests can plan their visits, as well as having accessibility-trained staff on site. “The focus on accessibility aligns with both our institutional values and business strategy,” he said. “We strive to create a welcoming, approachable, and hospitable community of audiences, staff, students, and artists. Tourist destinations can become more inclusive by making accessibility an organizational priority.”
