“I am very optimistic about the creativity and resilience of young people,” says Botstein, discussing the challenges and opportunities the coronavirus pandemic presents to students and higher education institutions. “We need more scientists and engineers in this country, and we’ve never had the wake up call, which this [pandemic] is, for young people to say, look, it’s a little harder, it takes a little longer time, but this is the time to do it.”
