Bard Studio Art Program Presents Senior Project Exhibitions at Bard Exhibition Center in Red Hook

Two Senior Project Exhibitions are on view at Fisher Studio Arts Building

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Studio Art Program at Bard College presents a series of Senior Project exhibitions on view at the Bard Exhibition Center, 7401 South Broadway, Red Hook, from May 3–17. The exhibitions are open daily from noon to 5:00 p.m. and may be viewed by the public without charge. The opening reception is on Saturday, May 3, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. The ten Bard seniors and the titles of their exhibitions are as follows: Beny Wagner, Nomothetic Fallacy; Ailey Kirwin, Climbing a Vine (I never left); Claire Leonard, Studio Art Thesis Exhibition; Johanna Povirk-Znoy, At First Things Are What They Seem; Elizabeth Herber, Unknown Territory; John Seal, Slippery Slopes and Snaky Ways: In Some Instances the Surface Is On the Inside; Rachel Mulvihill, Ordinary Places; Willa Gross, The Pretty Menace: Printmaking and Patterns that Symbolize Feminine Identity; Andrew Kemp, Mythology; and Justin Maung, Untitled. On view at the Fisher Studio Arts Building on the Bard College Campus in Annandale are two senior project exhibitions. Sarah Elger’s exhibition opens on Saturday, May 3, with a reception from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (the exhibition is on view through Friday, May 9). Mercedes Cecilia’s exhibition opens on Saturday, May 10, with a reception from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (the exhibition is on view through Saturday, May 17). Both exhibitions are open daily, from 9:00 to 5:00 p.m.

In an era when much contemporary art cannot be contained within the traditional categories of painting and sculpture, and when technology is transforming the production of visual images, the Studio Arts Program, cochaired by Arthur Gibbons and Judy Pfaff, has expanded the breadth of its offerings while retaining a strong core of courses that provide a firm grounding in basic techniques and principles.
