Thomas B. Pepinsky is an assistant professor of government at Cornell University, where he is also a faculty affiliate of the Southeast Asia Program and executive director of the International Political Economy Program. A specialist in comparative and international political economy, his research interests include international finance, authoritarianism and regime change, and Indonesian and Malaysian politics. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in such publications as World Politics, Studies in Comparative International Development, European Journal of International Relations, Journal of Democracy, Journal of East Asian Studies, and several edited volumes on the modern political economy of East Asia. His first book, Economic Crises and the Breakdown of Authoritarian Regimes, will be published in 2009 by Cambridge University Press. He teaches courses on Southeast Asian politics, comparative and international political economy, and political Islam. Pepinsky earned a Ph.D. in political science from Yale University and an A.B. from Brown University.
