Award-Winning Gothic Fiction Writer Peter Straub To Give Reading at Bard College on November 17

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—Acclaimed novelist Peter Straub will read from his work on Monday, November 17, at 2:30 p.m. in Olin 104, the Music Room at Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. Straub is a six-time Bram Stoker Award winner and one of the most renowned contemporary masters of horror and gothic fiction. Stephen King says, “When Peter Straub turns on all his jets no one in the scream factory can equal him.” The Philadelphia Inquirer writes, “Peter Straub’s fiction is of an intriguingly high order, deftly exploring how imagination can actually shape reality.” His books include The Night Room (2004), Lost Boy Lost Girl (2003), Black House (2001), and Ghost Story (1979), among numerous other works. Straub will be introduced by novelist and Bard literature professor Bradford Morrow. The reading, which is presented as part of Morrow’s course on innovative contemporary fiction, is free and open to the public.

Peter Straub was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1943. He is the author of 17 novels, four novellas, five short story collections, and five books of poetry. His work has been translated into more than twenty languages. In addition to his six Bram Stoker Awards, he has won the British Fantasy Award, two International Horror Guild Awards, and two World Fantasy awards, among other honors. He is a member of the Horror Writers Association, Mystery Writers of America, PEN, and the Adams Round Table. Straub has co-authored two novels, The Talisman (1984) and Black House (2001), with Stephen King.

For more information about the reading, call 845-758-1539.
