Da Capo Chamber Players Perform New Works on Monday, December 15
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Bard College resident ensemble Da Capo Chamber Players and special guests perform new solo and chamber works written by Bard student composers on Monday, December 15 at 7 p.m. The program takes place in Olin Hall and is free and open to the public.
“This is one of the most exciting programs we do,” says flutist and Da Capo member Patricia Spencer. “The pieces are always very original, and all different. It is a real celebration of the Bard composition programs, both in the Conservatory and in the College.”
Da Capo is widely acclaimed for its virtuosity, stimulating programs, and openness to a wide spectrum of styles in new music. “The Da Capo Chamber Players have been exploring and helping [to] create the modern repertory for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano for the last 30 years,” writes Allan Kozinn in the New York Times. Winner of the Naumburg Chamber Music Award in 1973, Da Capo has been a leader in building a strong heritage of present-day American chamber music and can point with pride to more than 90 chamber music works written especially for the ensemble by Joan Tower, Philip Glass, Harvey Sollberger, and Philippe Bodin, among many others. The Da Capo Chamber Players are Patricia Spencer, flute; Meighan Stoops, clarinet; Curt Macomber, violin; Andre Emelianoff, cello; and Blair McMillen, piano. Guest artists for the performance are Marka Gustavsson, viola; Luosha Fang, violin; and Qizhen Liu, cello.
No reservations are necessary. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
