Novelist and Bard Literature Professor Bradford Morrow to Present “My Willa Cather,” a Critical Memoir and Photograpic Essay, on Monday, October 19

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.— On Monday, October 19, Bard College will present My Willa Cather, a critical memoir and photographic essay by novelist and Bard College literature professor Bradford Morrow. First delivered as the keynote address at the Willa Cather International Symposium this summer at Chicago Public Library, Morrow’s talk, which features rare archival photographs, explores the many connections between Cather and himself—from shared pioneer roots and family interconnections to Modernism and the use of landscape as character. The talk, which is presented by Bard’s Office of the Dean and the Division of Languages and Literature, is free and open to the public and takes place at 7 p.m. in Weis Cinema in the Bertelsmann Campus Center.

Morrow is the author of five novels, including Trinity Fields, Giovanni’s Gift, and Ariel’s Crossing, as well as an illustrated children’s book, Didn’t Didn’t Do It, with Gahan Wilson, and several poetry collections. He is the founding editor of Conjunctions, the distinguished literary magazine published by Bard. He has edited numerous books, including, with Sam Hamill, The Complete Poems of Kenneth Rexroth. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship in fiction (2007), PEN/Nora Magid Award for excellence in literary journal editing (2007); O. Henry Prize (2003); and the Academy Award in Literature, American Academy of Arts and Letters (1998). He was a member of the board of trustees of the PEN American Center from 1998 to 2002. He is a professor of literature and Bard Center Fellow at Bard College.
