The Center for Civic Engagement Presents "9/11 Ten Years Later," A Film Screening and Panel Discussion

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.— The Bard Center for Civic Engagement presents a film screening and panel discussion, “9/11 Ten Years Later,” on Sunday, September 11, at 7 p.m. in the Bertelsman Campus Center multipurpose room. In recognition of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, student filmmakers conducted interviews with community members, who were asked two questions: “Where were you on 9/11?” and “Do you think 9/11 has changed the world?”  Following the screening of “9/11 Ten Years Later” (approximately 15 minutes in length), a panel of scholars will extend the discussion by considering questions related to terrorism, surveillance, freedom, and democracy. Audience members will have the opportunity to write and post their thoughts in an art installation, and attend a bonfire outside of the Campus Center in the Anna Jones Garden.


Moderated by Jonathan Becker, vice president, Bard College, panelists include Leon Botstein, president, Bard College; Roger Berkowitz, academic director, Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and the Humanities, Bard College; Salahuddin Muhammad, Muslim chaplain, Bard College; Michelle Murray, assistant professor of political studies, Bard College; and Scott Silverstone, associate professor, U.S. Military Academy, West Point.
