Mid-Hudson Mathematics Conference for Undergraduates at Bard College on Sunday, October 16
“We have more then 100 participants coming from all over the northeast, including 28 speakers,” said conference organizer Lauren Rose, associate professor of mathematics and chair, Division of Science, Mathematics, and Computing at Bard College. The students presenting papers are from Bard College, Barnard College, Bennington College, Vassar College, Marist College, New York City College of Technology, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, College of Staten Island, Wesleyan University, SUNY Brockport, Mount Saint Mary College, Skidmore College, BMCC/CUNY, Brooklyn College, Citytech College of Technology, and City College of New York.
Keynote speaker Mihai Stoiciu received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the California Institute of Technology and is associate professor of mathematics, Williams College.
The conference was organized by Lauren Rose; James Belk, assistant professor, Mathematics Program, Bard College; Maria Belk, director of quantitative literacy, Mathematics Program, Bard College; and Bill Dunbar, mathematics faculty at Bard College at Simon’s Rock: The Early College.
