Bard College Hosts Panel Discussion and Film Screening About Biodiversity in the Hudson Valley
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.— On February 8, Bard College will host a panel discussion and screening of The Nature of Nature: Biodiversity in the Hudson Valley, a documentary that celebrates the remarkable variety of life in the region’s unique landscape. The panel discussion will be facilitated by biologist Laura Heady, producer of The Nature of Nature and Conservation and Land Use program coordinator of the Hudson River Estuary Program and Cornell University. Other panelists include Dan Miller, restoration ecologist at the NYS Department of Conservation; Ellie Diamant, assistant professor of Biology at Bard College; and Amy Parrella, director of the arboretum at Bard College.The event will take place on Sunday, February 8 at 3:30pm in Olin Hall on Bard’s Annandale campus. The film screening will precede the panel, with refreshments to follow. In the event of inclement weather, the date will be moved to Sunday, March 8. The Nature of Nature: Biodiversity in the Hudson Valley is an exploration of the extraordinary living fabric of the Hudson Valley’s diverse landscape. From high elevation forests to the globally rare tidal marshes along the Hudson estuary, the 30-minute documentary film captures the beautiful, the complex, the familiar, and the unknown, guided by the plants, animals, and people that call the Hudson Valley home.
