AUTHOR LYDIA DAVIS WILL READ FROM RECENT WORK AT BARD COLLEGE.

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.-Lydia Davis, writer and translator, will read from recent fiction at Bard College on Monday, May 10. The reading, at 2:45 p.m. in Room 102 of the F. W. Olin Humanities Building, is part of a series of appearances by leading contemporary authors presented by Bard Professor Bradford Morrow. The reading is free and open to the public.

Lydia Davis "is one of the quiet giants in the world of American fiction. . . . She has one of the driest senses of humor on the planet . . ." writes the Los Angeles Times. Davis is the author of Almost No Memory, The End of the Story, Break it Down, Sketches for a Life of Wassilly, and Story and Other Stories. She has translated works by French authors Maurice Blanchot, Pierre Jean Jouve, Justine Levy, Michel Leiris, Michel Butor, Andre Jardin, Elisabeth Badinter, and Emmanuel Hocquard.
