ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY—The Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard will present two panel discussions on the topic of \"Artists/Curators/Museums: Curatorial Education in Europe\" on Friday, February 16, and Saturday, February 17. The panels on Friday and Saturday begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Weis Cinema of the Bertelsmann Campus Center and are free and open to the public.
Topics that will be explored by panelists include professional possibilities for curators of contemporary art, both inside and outside museums and other exhibiting institutions; the manner in which curators now are trained; and new prospects for curatorial training programs. The first session, on Friday afternoon, will be moderated by Norton Batkin, director of the graduate program, Center for Curatorial Studies; the second session, on Saturday afternoon, will be moderated by Robert Storr, senior curator, Museum of Modern Art, New York.
The two public panels are part of a three-day colloquium, \"Curatorial Training in Germany,\" presented by the Center for Curatorial Studies in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut of New York. The colloquium will explore the efforts to create formal curatorial training programs in Germany and the intellectual and institutional resistance to their formation in the past.
