PASSOVER SEDER AT BARD COLLEGE ON TUESDAY, APRIL 6

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—A Passover seder will be led by Rabbi Goldie Milgram, Bard’s Jewish chaplain, on the second night of the holiday, Tuesday, April 6, at 7:00 p.m., in the Manor House Café. Admission (which includes a buffet dinner) is $25 for adults or $18 for young people 13 and under. (Free for Bard students.) Reservations are required; please e-mail [email protected].

Rabbi Goldie Milgram is founder and executive director of ReclaimingJudaism.org, a nonprofit organization offering noncommercial web resources on Jewish spirituality and seminars, steeped in spirituality and respectful pluralism. Known for her creativity, scholarship, and humor, "Reb Goldie" is serving as Jewish chaplain at Bard for this year. Her books Reclaiming Judaism as a Spiritual Practice: Holy Days and Shabbat (Jewish Lights) and Make Your Own Bar/Bat Mitzvah: A Personal Approach to Creating a Meaningful Rite of Passage (Jossey-Bass) will be published this August.

Rabbi Milgram teaches Jewish meditation and sacred text study annually at Elat Chayyim Retreat Center in Accord, New York, as well as retreats for Jewish spiritual transformation at Esalen in Big Sur, California. She served for almost seven years as a dean, teacher, and innovator at the Academy for Jewish Religion in New York City. She has served as adjunct faculty at Princeton University and Gettysburg College, as well as Jewish Student Life director at Gettysburg College. As a rabbinical student, Milgram was the founder of the first program of Jewish Women's Studies ever established at an academic institution, in this case the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, where she earned her rabbinical degree. Rabbi Milgram has the privilege of the additional private ordination of Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, and served as coexecutive director of ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal. Prior to becoming a rabbi, she served 15 years as a Jewish Federation professional, with positions ranging from executive, planning and allocations director, and head of a bureau of Jewish education, as well as founding and editing a Jewish newspaper and Holocaust archive. She has been awarded Person of the Year status by the American Cancer Society for founding public health education television talk programming during her years as an anchorperson and producer for NBC-Channel 40.

Please R.s.v.p. seder reservations via e-mail to [email protected] with your name and the number in your party. Mail checks payable to Bard College and send them to Rabbi Goldie Milgram, 19 Arnold Drive, Woodstock, NY 12498.
