THE MILTON AVERY GRADUATE SCHOOL OF THE ARTS AT BARD COLLEGE ORGANIZES ANNUAL THESIS EXHIBITION AND PRESENTATIONS, JULY 16–25

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College presents the 2006 Thesis Exhibition—coordinated by Max Hernández Calvo, a graduate student in Bard’s Center for Curatorial Studies program—on view from Sunday, July 16, through Tuesday, July 25, at the UBS/Bard College Exhibition Center at 7401 South Broadway in Red Hook, New York. There also will be presentations by MFA candidates at Bard College in the evenings from July 17 to 24. Detailed information is available at www.bard.edu/mfa/events/. Both the exhibition and presentations are free and open to the public. The opening reception is Sunday, July 16, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Free shuttle service is available for the opening on July 16 from the Amtrak station in Rhinecliff to the exhibition in Red Hook and return. The 2006 MFA candidates are Ei Arakawa, Jessie Stead, Jean-Marc Superville-Sovak, Uriah Theriault (film/video); Gabriel Burian-Mohr, D. Raylene Campbell, Amos Elkana, Matthew Morgan, Dale Edwin Sherrard, Stefan Tcherepnin (music/sound); Eric Anglès, Peter Barrickman, Jennilie Brewster, Caitlin Parker, Sreshta Premnath, and Adam Sipe (painting); Corinne May Botz, Christopher Curreri, Eric Gottesman, William Lamson, Laura Napier, Dominique Rey, David Rothenberg (photography); Joshua Hart, Desi Santiago, Christopher Sollars, Crispin Webb, Michael Wodkowski (sculpture); and Jessica Arndt, Noam Mor, Chana Morgenstern, Anna Vitale (writing). Presentations by the MFA candidates begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 17, in the Avery Theater: Noam Mor (writing), Dale Edwin Sherrard (music/sound); on Tuesday, July 18, in the Avery Theater: Jessica Arndt (writing), Stefan Tcherepnin (music/sound); on Wednesday, July 19, in the multipurpose room of the Bertelsmann Campus Center: Gabriel Burian-Mohr (music/sound), Chana Morgenstern (writing); on Thursday, July 20, in the multipurpose room of the Bertelsmann Campus Center: D. Raylene Campbell (music/sound), Anna Vitale (writing); and on Monday, July 24, in the Avery Theater, with a second location to be announced, Ei Arakawa (film/video) and Jessie Stead (film/video). The students in the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts have spent three intensive summers in residence at Bard, where they have worked with faculty who are leading artists in their respective fields of painting, writing, photography, sculpture, film/video, and music/sound. During the winter months, the students continued to work on independent projects related to their field of study. The MFA Program at Bard offers students the opportunity to receive cross-disciplinary feedback about their work, receiving a broader and deeper response from a community of artists, rather than the departmental approach that traditional MFA programs favor. All events are free and open to the public. For further information, visit the website www.bard.edu/mfa/events, e-mail [email protected], or call 845-758-7483. # # # (6/19/06)
