“Girls, Puberty, and Education in Kenya: An African Case," Lecture by Wanjiku Ng'ang'a

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Bard Africana Studies Program and Black Student Organization present a luncheon lecture by Wanjiku Ng’ang’a, visiting Fulbright scholar at Bard, on the topic “Girls, Puberty, and Education in Kenya: An African Case,” on Saturday, March 10. The program begins at 11:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room of the Bertelsmann Campus Center at Bard College. Reservations are requested for the luncheon as seating is limited. Please call 845-758-7235 to preregister by February 21. [No reservations are necessary for attendance only at the lecture by Ng’ang’a, which begins at 12:15 p.m., following the luncheon.] Wanjiku Ng’ang’a, a Fulbright Fellow in Linguistics, received a bachelor of science degree in computer science from the University of Nairobi, a master of philosophy degree from Cambridge University, and a Ph.D. from Helsinki University. She is a technical director with Africom Technologies Group, Helsinki; a consultant language technologist with the Igbo Online Resources Project at the University of Nigeria; and a researcher for the Swahili Project of the University of Helsinki and WebALT, Helsinki.
