TJ Kostecky’s Book Eyes Up Excerpted in Soccer Journal and Featured in Good Housekeeping
A chapter of Bard Head Men’s Soccer Coach and Assistant Athletic Director TJ Kostecky’s book Eyes Up was published in the Winter 2025 issue of Soccer Journal. The chapter, “Seeing is Believing,” discusses Kostecky’s investment in vision training, a strategy he used during his time coaching at LIU Brooklyn to help his players observe the field. “Only by opening their eyes, scanning and shifting their lens will they have the capacity to gather relevant information and learn,” writes Kostecky. “As they learn, they change. And as they change, they grow.”
Kostecky has been at Bard since 2019. He has coached five seasons of men’s soccer and in 2024 the team won its 15th consecutive United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award. In 2020, he was inducted into the Ukrainian Sports Hall of Fame. He also leads the leadership development program Vision Training for Life. Eyes Up was also included in Good Housekeeping’s “26 Best Self-Help Books of 2024 That Actually Work.”
