Vishal Parkash ’27 Speaks to the Annandale Advocate About Building Up Hudson
The Annandale Advocate spoke with Vishal Parkash ’27 about his leadership of Building Up Hudson, a Trustee Leader Scholar (TLS) project that helps educate and inspire Hudson Valley youth. Building Up Hudson is an organization where Bard students tutor local Hudson Valley high schoolers and offer workshops on financial and personal development. Officially founded by Brandon LaBord ’13 as Hudson Tutoring in 2012, following many years of Bardians tutoring in Hudson through TLS, it is supported by Operation Unite, an NGO led by Elena Mosley.
Parkash got involved in the organization through his involvement in CCS while in Berlin. As the organization’s leader, he has led storytelling and financial literacy workshops, helped with college applications, and tutored. “The TLS office is always open to new ideas and wants to support them,” said Parkash. “All of us have amazing ideas, but aren’t sure how to use them. [Through Building Up Hudson,] I'm trying to give people skills that they can potentially use throughout the rest of their lives.”
