For first-year and transfer students applying to Bard, need-based financial aid is available from the College, as well as from public and private sources.

Financial Aid Checklist

For US Citizens and Permanent Residents
  • Step 1
    Complete the FAFSA
    Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
    Bard requires that all students seeking financial aid complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA must be submitted in order for federal aid eligibility to be determined.

    Deadlines:
    • December for early admission candidates
    • February 1 for fall entrance for new students
    • March 31 for returning students

  • Step 2
    Complete the CSS Profile
    College Scholarship Service (CSS) Profile
    All students requesting financial aid from Bard must fill out the CSS/Financial Aid Profile. The CSS Profile is not required if you intend only to be considered for federal financial aid.

    Deadlines:
    • December 1 for early admission candidates
    • February 1 for fall entrance for new students
    • March 31 for returning students

    Complete the CSS Profile
  • Step 3
    Complete any supplemental forms
    Noncustodial Parent’s Profile
    Whether the parents of the applicant are divorced, separated, or were never married, the noncustodial parent will be expected to complete the Noncustodial Parent’s Profile after the student has completed the CSS Profile. This form is typically required when an applicant applies for financial aid for the first time.

Financial Aid Checklist

For International Students
  • Complete the Bard International Financial Aid Application (BISFAA)
    International students attending Bard College are eligible for financial assistance.
    Complete the BISFAA
    Once completed please upload it to your Bard Applicant Portal.

Verification

Approximately 18 percent of those filing the FAFSA are selected by the federal processor to be verified. The Verification Worksheet must be submitted to verify certain data elements. A financial aid representative will reach out to a student selected for verification to request, in writing, required documentation/information.
