Academic Forms

  • Petition for Academic Leave (PDF)
  • Joint Major (PDF)
  • Joint Senior Project (PDF)
  • Independent Study (PDF)
    Use this form only if you plan to earn credit by completing a project outside the College’s regular course structure. The project must have demonstrated academic value and result in a body of work that will be assessed by a Bard College faculty member.
  • Internship Recognition (PDF)
    Use this form if you are completing a formal, supervised internship that involved at least 40 hours of work. You may request either 0.5 academic credits or non-credit bearing transcript recognition. Neither form of recognition is available for work performed through Bard College or for work conducted on any of Bard’s campuses.
  • Study at Bard NYC/BGIA (PDF)
    Begin by applying directly to the BGIA program. Once BGIA approves you, use this form to request permission to study at BGIA for a semester. Submit this form to the Center for Student Life & Advising and attach a PDF of your completed BGIA application. Students who do not receive Executive Committee approval before studying at BGIA may not receive credit for that semester.
  • Academic Leave of Absence (to study within the US) (PDF)
    Use this form to request permission for an academic leave of absence from Bard College to study at another academic institution. Use this form only if you plan to earn credits towards your Bard degree by spending a semester at another institution within the United States.
  • Petition for Study Abroad (PDF)
    Only use this form to request approval from Bard to study for credit for a semester or academic year outside of the United States. Students who do not receive approval before studying abroad will not receive credit at Bard College for courses taken abroad.
  • 3+2 Programs (PDF)
    Use this form to request permission to apply to one of the following 3+2 programs. Learn about 3+2 programs here.
