Kline Commons houses the main campus dining room, as well as the Green Onion Grocer, an on-campus grocery store that accepts Bard Bucks or cash. Meals are also available in the Down the Road Café in the Bertelsmann Campus Center and Manor House Café at Ward Manor. Resident students must be on a meal plan. Meal plan selection may be made within the first two weeks of a given semester. First-year students are required to be on a 19-meal plan for the fall semester.

Upperclassmen are eligible to change their meal plans based on residence hall to a variety of meal plan options including block plans. Second semester freshmen may only change to a 265-block plan in the spring. With the meal plan, students receive Bard Bucks each semester that may be used for purchases at Down the Road Café, Manor House Café, and the Green Onion Grocer, when the board plan is in session. Students also have the option of opening a FLEX account, which acts like a debit card to be used for purchases outside of the board plan at any of the dining outlets. Students using flex accounts are given a discount on their purchases. Flex accounts cannot replace a meal plan. Students requesting medical exemption from the meal plan must provide documentation to Health Services. Students may not get refunds on their meal plans during the first week of the fall semester.

All students may exchange a board meal at breakfast, lunch, or dinner using the ABC Meal Exchange program at Manor House Café.  Only those students on block plans may exchange a board meal at Down the Road Café.  In addition, students on block plans may also exchange a board meal late night at Down the Road. Students may “build” a meal from specific menu items in exchange for a meal in Kline Commons.

Students with particular dietary needs or preferences should consult with the Director of Dining Services; reasonable requests will be accommodated. Special requests for religious holidays should be discussed in advance. Students are expected to maintain proper decorum in the dining facilities. Anyone who violates appropriate behavioral guidelines is subject to disciplinary action.
