Biography:
Jenny Xie is a poet whose work has appeared in Poetry, Yale Review, American Poetry Review, New Republic, Tin House, and elsewhere. Her debut collection of poems, Eye Level, received the 2017 Walt Whitman Award of the Academy of American Poets and was a finalist for the National Book Award. In its review of Eye Level, The New Yorker wrote that “Xie comes across as a magician of perspective and scale.” Nowhere to Arrive (2017) received the Drinking Gourd Chapbook Prize. She is the recipient of fellowships and support from Kundiman, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Elizabeth George Foundation, Civitella Ranieri Foundation, Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and Poets & Writers. Other honors include the 2020 Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise. She previously taught at New York University.BA, Princeton University; MFA, New York University.
