The Alexander Hamilton Society Bard Chapter and Center for Civic Engagement are pleased to invite the Bard community to our speaker event with Steven Cash, Executive Director of The Steady State, for a discussion on national security, the future of American democracy, and how to protect and preserve our constitutional system. Drawing on his experience with the CIA, the US Senate, and DHS, he will explain why the U.S. faces a critical moment and what can be done to safeguard our constitutional system.6:00 pm EDT/GMT-4
Steven Cash is the Executive Director of The Steady State, a nonprofit advocacy group of former senior national security officials. He has held senior roles across the CIA, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Senate, and House of Representatives. Cash began his career prosecuting crime and corruption at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office before joining the CIA as counsel and later an operations officer, earning the CIA’s Medal of Merit. After 9/11, he served as lead counterterrorism staffer for the Senate Intelligence Committee and later helped establish the House Select Committee on Homeland Security. He went on to serve as Chief Counsel to Senator Dianne Feinstein and held senior positions at the Departments of Homeland Security and Energy. Cash has advised on intelligence and national security in the private sector, practiced law, and served as co-chair of the D.C. Bar’s National Security Law Committee. He is also a frequent commentator on intelligence and law enforcement issues.
