This workshop will introduce the topic of binary golf. Binary golf is the art of crafting the smallest possible files that still function. We will cover the theory behind binary golf, file minification, and file formats in general, then examine practical examples including golfed and polyglot files. We will then use simple text based tools (nasm, xxd, yxd, xx) to understand and create small files of our own. This workshop is intended for a general audience with an interest in computers, file formats, and reverse engineering. The files required to follow along will be made available as a git repo prior to the start of the workshop.(there should also be food)
