Cagecircle: Open Curatorial Workshop

Join us at Stevenson Library for an open curatorial workshop using John Cage's chance procedures to select objects to be shown in a Stevenson Library exhibition from June 17 to July 31, 2026. This is a unique opportunity to see John Cage’s method of chance operations in practice and to watch an exhibition take shape in real time.
Jeffrey Lependorf, Executive Director of the John Cage Trust, will offer a brief introduction to the exhibition and demonstrate how the chance operations calculator works. From there, we will apply chance operations to lists of items submitted by departments across the Bard network until the exhibition list is complete.
Drop in anytime during the session. Light refreshments will be served.
