Jenny Marketou (New School)
Jenny Marketou is a Greek born multidisciplinary artist, educator and author, teaching at the New School in New York. Her practice consists of installation, video, public art, relational structures and the politics of collective intimacy and knowledge production. Over the last years, she has become known for developing sprawling, often large scale floating public sculptural landscapes inspired by nonhuman species, new materiality and organic processes transforming accumulations of discarded objects and live material into ecosystems which she calls “Wet Gatherings.” Marketou has exhibited internationally in distinguished museums and institutions such as The High Line New York, Museum Reina, ZKM, Museum Tinguely, Kumu Art Museum, Kunsthalle Basel, Artium Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country, Fondazione Claudio Buziol, EMST, Queens Museum, and The New Museum among other venues. Marketou’s work has been highlighted in Artforum, Art News, The New York Times, New York Magazine, Art e Critica, El Pais, Metropolis Magazine, The New Yorker, and on Art21.
