Race 2 Zero Waste Week 2 of 8 - Compost with LOVE

Bard College is currently ranked #2 nationally in food scrap diversion, and we're aiming for the top spot! Join us for the 8-week Campus Race to Zero Waste competition, where our collective actions can make a tremendous impact on campus sustainability.
Your daily choices matter! Here's how you can help:
  • Compost all food scraps at Kline (bones, too), vegan scraps only in dorms
    • Take this week's Composting Quiz - drawing for $15 each week, with a bigger draw at the end of eight weeks.
    • Fill out this form to request a Compost Bin for your dorm, a Baby Barry reuse bin for your dorm (limited) or just to say you want to help out
  • Sort your recyclables carefully
    • Quiz results:  33% got 100%, avg score 75%
      •  what IS recyclable?  the aluminum can, the clean peanut butter jar (whether glass or plastic), the green machine plastic bottle with top. 
      • What IS NOT recyclable?  the plastic, hinged lid tomato clamshell, the oat milk carton, the Pepsi paper cup
    • Choose reusable items over single-use options
  • All are welcome to browse the FreeUse store! 
    • TIOLI ("leave it" applies to campus-generated items only; take it all away and put it to use!
Some events to look forward to - crocheting a microbe, seed planting /Valentine's plant giveaways and the premier of a Bard Race2Zero Waste game!
There's a weekly quiz in Kline with a cash prize!
There will be trip(s) the the Ozone - the local bulk refillery 3 miles from Bard.
