Signed, Sealed, Still Debated: A Constitution Day Conversation

Hannah Arendt Center Presents

Signed, Sealed, Still Debated: A Constitution Day Conversation

Wednesday, September 17, 2025
Kingston Library, 61 Crown Street, Kingston, NY
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm EDT/GMT-4
The Constitution is more than famous amendments and familiar phrases; it’s a living document that continues to shape our rights, freedoms, and responsibilities. Constitution Day, observed each year on September 17, marks the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787.
Join Professor Roger Berkowitz, Founder and Academic Director of the Hannah Arendt Center at Bard College, as he takes us beyond the usual talking points to explore what the Constitution really means for us today.

Bring your questions for a lively Q&A afterward. No registration needed. The first 10 attendees will also receive a free pocket Constitution.

A Professor of Politics, Philosophy,  and Human Rights, Roger Berkowitz writes and speaks about how justice is made present in the world. He is author of The Gift of Science: Leibniz and the Modern Legal Tradition, co-editor of Artifacts of Thinking: Reading Hannah Arendt’s Denktagebuch (2017), Thinking in Dark Times: Hannah Arendt on Ethics and Politics (2010), The Intellectual Origins of the Global Financial Crisis (2012), and editor annual publication, the Hannah Arendt Yearbook published by De Gruyter Brill for the Hannah Arendt Center.
